God's Judgement, Justice and Hope: Show & Tell - Isaiah 39

The story of Isaiah 39 may seem like it's from another time and place but it's a timely story for us as well. When his nation was threatened by the Assyrian empire, King Hezekiah trusted God - and God came through. Then Hezekiah became proud, taking pride in his abilities and resources. These things he was only too happy to show and tell to the mighty Babylonian empire, trying to forge an alliance, and before you knew it - Babylon came through and exiled Jerusalem. In the midst of this, the prophet Isaiah asks a very interesting question that God continues to ask us today: "What have they seen in your palace?" In other words, who are we trying to impress or make alliances with? Are we relying on our own abilities and resources to do this? Does God have a different way?
