Being Church: A Community of Learners - Special Guest Interview with Father Travis

News of a mass grave of Indigenous children, discovered in Kamloops last week has horrified the nation. Even as this news was tragically not a shock for our Indigenous neighbours devastated by the legacy of residential schools, perhaps it has provided the wakeup call many of us have needed to finally begin a journey of learning and reconciliation.

This is especially true of the church and it has caused us to ask many questions:

How are we to understand these horrific events in the larger picture painted by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission? How are we as followers of Jesus to respond? What does reconciliation look like? When the good news was used to suppress, abuse and destroy others and their culture, what is the hope of the gospel in all of this?

To help us begin the journey of learning and reconciliation (two important hallmarks of being church), we are incredibly grateful that Father Travis of St. Faith's Anglican has agreed to come and be interviewed. As a well-respected leader in the faith and Indigenous communities, we have the opportunity to learn from him as we begin to wrestle with these questions.
