The Challenge of Loving Our Neighbours: James 2:1-13

What does it look like to reflect Jesus’ love within community? James makes it clear it’s certainly NOT favoritism!  Rather we are to ‘love our neighbours’ as ourselves.  We are not surprised by this, we even applaud it, and yet living this out is as challenging today as it was at the time of the early church.  The society we are a part of automatically sifts people into levels of value with the poor and powerless being at the bottom.  Without conscious thought our faith communities so often automatically reflect society’s favoritism of the wealthy over the poor.
