Lent 2021: "The Way of the Cross"

For the first half of the book of Mark, we see time and time again how confused Jesus' disciples were about who he was and the kingdom he was announcing. However, in Mark 8, Peter finally makes the bold declaration that Jesus is the "Messiah".

How the disciples saw Jesus fulfilling that role and how Jesus saw himself doing that were very different however. The disciples had great expectations of a political victory and the overthrow of their Roman oppressors whereas Jesus said that his path as Messiah would take him to the cross. What's more, he made the staggering invitation to his disciples to deny themselves, take up their cross and follow him.

Please join us this Sunday and as we journey together with Jesus through this season of Lent and learn what it means to deny ourselves, take up our crosses and follow him.
