Advent: Week 1. God’s Invisible Hand
Advent, a season of waiting, longing, hoping. A season of looking forward to the coming of Christ. This year as we begin the season of Advent we do so with heavy hearts. Most years there is a sense of joyous anticipation in the weeks leading up to Christmas but this year there is fear, anxiety, grief as we wait for relief from the COVID 19 pandemic. It can be difficult to see the hand of God at work, to trust that God is still sovereign and his guiding hand is still providing all that we need as we enter this Advent season.
As we begin this advent season we will look at the book of Esther to remind us that God has always been at work in history, often behind the scenes in situations that for us as humans are frightening; filled with tension, fear, and grief. Join us this Sunday as we are reminded of God’s faithful presence through Esther, a young woman who fulfilled her role in God’s plans despite her fear.
