“I must dwell (stay) at your house today,” says Jesus to Zacchaeus. Children sing songs about Zacchaeus and we find it a cute story to think about short Zacchaeus climbing a tree in order to see Jesus. Yet Jesus’ encounter with Zacchaeus has a profound impact on his life and ripples out to impact all those who witnessed the encounter. And it ripples out to touch our lives as well. Reminding us once again that Jesus dwelling, Jesus encountering brings life, joy and transformation in often unexpected ways.
