John 12:1-8 "Love Poured Out"

Aaron Au

April 10th, 2022

Judas wasn't wrong. If you think about it, what Mary did that day for Jesus didn't make much sense at all. Even if he was a thief, Judas was right in that the expensive perfume could have been sold to feed the poor and instead it was being poured on Jesus' feet. Were Mary and Jesus wrong? Did greedy Judas actually get it right?

Judas was only right if you believe that scarcity is our reality and that God doesn't care for those on the margins. However, if God is truly the God of abundance and that in Jesus, he poured out his love for all of us, then Mary's response of pouring out of the perfume is truly beautiful, fitting and inspiring.
