Summer of Psalms - Psalm 97: The King Reigns

Psalm 97 is good news: God, whose throne is founded in justice and righteousness is on his throne. He reigns! And yet, when we look around us and see all of the injustice and evil being perpetrated, how can we take comfort in this? How can we know this to be a truth we can stake our lives on? It may be that Psalm 97 may have been written in a time similar to ours, where God's people were in exile, feeling lost, disorientated. In the midst of that, the psalmist was calling them to find their orientation in the God who is king, who is on his throne, who has the victory, even when circumstances say otherwise.
